which chip to try?

I'm thinking of getting a chip as the first upgrade for my 95 318ti, and

I'm not sure which one to go with.  From following the
digest, I gather that some only improve performance at full throttle,
while others work throughout the entire power band.  Since most of my
driving is in the city (Chicago) I'm interested in boosting performance
at the low end in particular.  Which chip maker is best for my
situation?  It seems that the 3 names I see most are Dinan, Jim C, and
Autothority.  Are there any others worth considering?  Any advice would
be much appreciated.
