Brake duct hoses

I went to the local hardware megastore, and was looking at the sections
of dryer hose for my winter project of brake ducting my 88 M3. What I
saw there was either the foil kind or plastic. I am guessing that the
foil will sustain higher temps, but is hi-temp hose really necessary? I
know near the rotors it will get pretty hot, but if I get the plastic
hose will it melt from the engine temp? The plastic hose looks like it
will be easier to handle/bend.
I know they sell hi-temp hose at race shops, but it is quite pricey
compared to this stuff.
This car is my daily driver and sees a couple of schools a year.
Thanks
