WOB: VA car tax rebate

Well, just got my first rebate check in the mail from Virginia.  For those of you who don't live in a property tax state, this is the situation in VA.  You have to pay 4.5% of assessed value each and every year.  Needless to say this is a huge pain in the ass.  To give you some idea of what this costs I paid $1225.90 this year on my 95 M3 alone, meaning assessed value was like $27,242.  The now-governor Gilmore ran and won on a platform of no more car tax. 

Certain people with short attention spans (or who only read bumper stickers) got miffed when they found out the rebate was going to be phased in instead of immediately eliminated.  So year 1 it's a 12.5% rebate, next year is 27.5%....to 100% gone by 2002.

Anyway, I got a total of $158.41 back today.  Yippee.  Hey, voting works sometimes.
