New Roundel design?

I heard a rumor some time ago that BMW was working on a new
modernized version of the Roundel (more 3D effect?).
Has anyone heard more on that?  Is it something coming soon?
Or just some internal project that may surface in a few years?
(I heard it was coming soon about six months ago -- but rumors
are rarely precise.)
