Longish Commutes May Be In My Future

I have been fortunate to be able to get to work in a few minutes for the
past 6 years.  This might just change in a few weeks, and I am gonna need to
start thinking about the extra 30,000 annual miles as well.

So, since I am wondering about PacNW stop and go wet/dry high miles driving,
who has advice on what car to acquire to grind into Interstate 5 over the
next 5 years?

Budget is a concern... I would like to keep the monthly costs as low as
possible while maintaining the joy of driving (if that can be done in rush
traffic conditions).

Anyone have advice re: new car leasing (think about the miles) versus low
mileage car purchase?

I am not interested in getting rid of my current cars, so this would be an
addition to the stable.
