HELP Please...really

I have a '90 535 that no longer blows fresh air out of the dash vents,
the warm air coming out has an engine compartment smell to it.

I checked my Bently...No joy.
checked the archives,,,the latest seem to be July.

HELP please...where do I look, for what, to fix this.

OBTW..latest digests are so bad, I think I've worn out my
"page down key".

One last question. I downloaded CarTest, which is really fun. What
HP shud I set for the 3.5 w/JC chip ??? (more than 208 ??)
