The advantage to the performance oriented is that DOHC setups have less
reciprocating mass than SOHCs due to lack of rocker arms.  Also, the reci=
p
mass is all concentrated in one location.  Both make design of
rapid-opening, high-lift valve systems for high-RPM engines easier/more
feasable.

What's the advantage of having two cams versus one?  I can see an
advantage with VANOS on one or both (more leeway for adjustment).  Is
there anything else that two cams do better than one?
