New BMW Sports Activity Vehicle Makes Worldwide Debut at Detroit Auto Show

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The new BMW Sports Activity
Vehicle will make its worldwide debut at the North American International Auto
Show in Detroit from January 9-23.  Like the BMW Z3 roadster, which was
introduced in 1996, the Sports Activity Vehicle has been the subject of
speculation and spy photos in the past several months.  The first official
photo clearly indicates the distinctive look of this sporty new vehicle.

Like other BMW automobiles, the new Sports Activity Vehicle is characterized
by classic BMW features such as aesthetic design, dynamic performance and
superior safety features.  In addition, this vehicle offers a brand-new
driving experience, particularly through its high seating position and the
flexibility to offer typical BMW driving performance on any road surface.

With its unitary body construction and independent suspension, the Sports
Activity Vehicle sets new standards in dynamic performance and safety for
vehicles which also look good off the beaten path.  Constructed at BMW
Manufacturing Corp.'s production plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the
Sports Activity Vehicle is an all-new passenger car with the most advanced
