Please Help! <E36> Question on Suspension....
Hi.
I was wondering - I have a '97 318i Sedan. The suspension set on
the car is on a soft side, and could be improved for sporty driving. I was
thinking of going Bilstein/Eibach setup until I found out a good deal on a
used '97 E36 M3 suspension (four shocks, four springs, sway bars).
Now the question is: how would the M3 suspension perform in 318i? I
thought that they would physically fit without any problem, and they would
be as compatible as any other aftermarket kit, and they would handle
not-too-tracklike-hard, but enough-for-active-driving (like M3.:).
Yet, someone told me that since M3 has different weight and weight
balance (because of heavier weight of the car, and heavier weight of the
front), fitting M3 suspension kit on the 318i may not be such a good idea:
as a matter of fact, he thought it would make the handling of the car worse.
Is there anyone who did such modification? Does anyone know
anything for a fact? There must be someone who can help me out on the list!
Or should I just go for either Bilstein/Eibach or Korman tracksport setup
saving all these agonies and troubles? (My dealer suggests Dinan setup, but
I am not too crazy about Dinan....)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jimi
