E34 interior lights question

Hi Gang!
My kids sometimes like to read or draw while they're sitting in the back 
seat of my E34.  At night they need the interior lights on so they can 
do so.  The problem is that the only way I can figure to illuminate the 
back seat lights is to turn on the dome switch.  This makes it difficult 
to see with the bright dome light in my face.  Is there any way to 
illuminate the back seat lights without the front dome light 
illuminating as well?  It would've been great if BMW had separate 
switches on each individual light.  TIA.
