Tom,
Ethylene glycol will strip the paint from the struts, it's hygroscopic, I
would assume has a higher coefficient of expansion and its evaporation rate
may also enter into the equation over the strut installation life time.
While antifreeze has rust inhibitors, I would question its rust prevention
effectiveness in this application.
Also due to the low viscosity, it may be possible to agitate the antifreeze
into a froth in which the air bubbles will decrease the heat transfer
characteristics, swell the volume and cause it to expel from the strut..
Just some thoughts...
I'm sticking with oil!!
