 Subject: E30 - 100W H1 bulbs

 Hi everybody,

 I've just replaced the puny original 55W H1 bulbs on my 1988 E30 with 100W
H1s (on the dipped beams). Much better illumination. Do I have to upgrade any
of the fuses to account for the higher wattage bulbs? It's worked fine over
the last couple of days. Any other related issues that I have to be aware of?

~~~~ There was a string disussing this on the Mercedes Digest.  The consensus
appears to be checking the gauge of wire, and checking the socket. Some
sockets are of a soft or hard material that literally "melts" the contact
spade holes. NOT a pretty picture!. Some guys have gone to 65 watts safely.
NAPA auto parts stores have some blue (appears to be phenolic plastic) sockets
that SEEM to take the 100watt bulbs, but the wiring gauge is still suspect.
Don't know on BMW's.
