  As others have mentioned, a proper battery charger is probably a 
 simpler solution.  Even if disconnected, a battery will discharge

Yea,  but there are batteries that can sit for a year or two if disconnected
and still start the car.  If you've got a battery that goes dead within a
couple of weeks (or months) when disconnected, you have a bad battery...
