Radio question

The radio/tape deck in my 87 325  needs repair, as do the speakers.  These
appear to be the original "standard issue".  My question is:  is there a
school of thought on whether  it is better to repair original equipment or
just replace with some "non-BMW" equipment?  Perhaps it doesn't matter at
all.  I appreciate your patience!
