I never saw the original post about this, but in my '97 318ti, I also
had a chirping over bumps. After the dealer not bein able to find it,
I finally found it myself. The CD changer. It was improperly
mounted, so it made that sound. So if you have a CD changer, make
sure it is tightly in. Shake it around.
