E12 M535i and E24 6 Series Exhausts

Hi All

      I have run a E12 M535i for the last 5 years,great car.The =
problem I have at present is with replacing the exhaust system.I can =
get a standard system from BMW costing around =A3650.00,but I can =
have a stainless system made up for around half that.However if I get =
one made I would like a better, free flowing system.I read that =
Alpina used the standard system after removing the front box,I was =
wondering if any of you have any experience of this or can point me =
in the direction of someone who does.I have looked at Metric =
Mechanics system 300 exhaust and it seems a logical way to go,though =
I am worried about loosing the resonance box.I would like the system =
to produce a little more noise but not over the top,a nice deep =
rumble would be fine.I looked into a 6 branch manifold (header) but I =
thing the problems associated with excess heat out way the gains,any =
comment?
