Robbie,
Starting to see the wear bars?!
I feel qualified to comment on this one ;) I've run a set of A032s on my 93 325 for over a full season now. With only one school left in the year, I didn't want to buy new tires and let them sit all winter. So, for 3-days at Gingerman I drove those tires. The wear bars had been one with the track surface for some time. When I _started_ the weekend, there was the faintest memory of a tread pattern on the shoulders of the tires. When I finished (5 minutes before the end of the last session on Sunday), one tire was a "little" corded, and the rest were totally slick (and blue-colored). As for their performance, they start to lose some grip when they wear to this point, but they still work OK (just ask some of the others in my run group :0). By the way, I knew when the one tire corded by a _definite_ decrease in grip at that corner.
The only thing you have to do when they get to this point is to check them after _each_ session. You really don't want drive on tires with no rubber on them. Also, if you use them to this point, don't plan on driving them to and from the track - any piece of glass or debris will result in a flat. There's simply no tread left to protect the tire.
Cheers,
Rob
93 325 got my money's worth
