We have a guy here with a 98 F355 that won't shift into 2nd, breaks my
heart to hear that engine almost at redline.  BTW try to tell a Miata
guy not to downshift into 1st and you'll get a reaction, if they'd
quit downshifting I might be able to take 'em.

Well, if you're referring to E36 M motors, we have about 180ft/lbs of
torque from about 3000rpm to about 210ft/lbs at 4500rpm, with some
Conforti help that is.  9.6 billion rpm, ya must be talkin' bout those
pesky VTEC Preludes. :-)  

Actually, closes VTEC I've come to lately was driving my friend's
Integra Type R, quick heel-and-toe downshift into 1st during some
trail braking in the beginning of sweeping turns gained me about a
second throughout the course.  This car's power band is way up there
in the rpms though.
