While it's not close, there is a switched (and also a non-switched)
fuse/circuit which BMW left available for us. Next to the main fuse box
(left side engine bay), toward the front threre is a small plastic fuse box
with two "old" style fuses, which are available. One is switched, and one
is always hot. Check with a volt meter. Basically you can get power there,
which gives a really nice setup with the fuse dedicated to your accessory.
There might be a closer source, though.
