<E-34> Re: Cold Start Problem

Munsoor -

My 95 525i does the same thing if it has not been operated for a couple o=
f
weeks. My =

original assumption was that plugs fouled upon start-up and caused rough
running =

until they burned clean - a process helped by advancing the idle with a b=
it
of throttle.
More recently, I've begun to suspect the injectors. See Mark Calabrese's=

article in the =

October Roundel if you are a BMW CCA member (which you should be, even in=

the Kingdom!).
Seems that the injectors can stick shut. Mark suggests the cause of
injector sticking is too
much detergent in the fuel, turned into gunk by engine heat and time. =

Apparently BG Products'
44K fuel additive cleans up the gunk. (Perhaps it is a "different"
detergent??)

I have a 1995 525i. When you start up a cold engine it runs rough at
idle with some vibration. If you press the accelerator it revs up OK
but does not seem smooth. You can drive the car and the problems
disappears after a while and no problems after that.
