<MISC> VA CCA Plates and Contacts for Tidewater and Blue Ridge

We seem to be making a little progress in getting a grass-roots effort
underway to try to have BMW CCA special interest license plates authorized
in VA. I'll post more once we have something to report. I've set up an
auto-responder at va-bmwcca-plates@domain.elided - if you're interested, send
e-mail to that address, and I'll add your name to the mailing list. I'm
trying to minimize on-Digest time, since I'm sure the rest of the
country/world could care less. Also, I hope to have a web page up soon (my
server crashed, so I need to get it back up first). I'll post the URL when
it's up.

We're thinking that the best approach would be to have a joint proposal
sponsored by the NCC, Tidewater, and Blue Ridge Chapters. Does anyone have
names and e-mail addresses for the appropriate persons in the Tidewater and
Blue Ridge chapters? (I lost the info for Blue Ridge in the crash - Mike,
if you're reading this, could you send again?)

We've come up with a few rough designs, but could use some real design
talent if anyone could help. We hope to put together a really nice plate
(better than the other special plates) and we're working to find out from
the state what we can do in the way of designs (thanks Dwayne J.). As it
stands now, it looks like we should be able to preserve vanity plates up to
6 characters, and possibly, all 7 if we can do a "background" design.

Having the plates authorized appears to be the easy part. More difficult
will be getting the required 350 PREPAID applicants following approval, but
even bowlers and CPAs had enough support to get plates issued and they
aren't even car related! Worse yet, that pesky Corvette Club has a plate in
the works! Can't let them show us up now can we? Hmmm.... wonder how a
shark eating a stingray would look?! ;)

Thanks,
Mike A.
