Not to waste bandwith but:
1. a 350 Chevy engine is a small block. A 402 is a Big Block
2. Chevy didn't make an aluminum small block in '69 (IMHO)
But you did the right thing to sell it.

396 was not the original engine displacement. I believe the casting started
life as a 350 (which can hit 402). I dont know the vendor of the block, I
assumed it was a C.O.P.O. block from the 69 production run (only sold for
off highway use) >>
