<e28> DEAD power seat needs fix

Unfortunately, the driver's power seat in my 1987 528e has stopped
working.  It decided to stop working while in the far back position
which makes it impossible to remove the seat from the car because the
rear bolts are now covered by the seat rails.

Does anyone know how to fix this sort of thing?  I can't even buy a new
seat because I can't get the old one out of the car...
