Hello BMW Experts!  While using longer rods does lead to more HP, a shorter
rod will
give you more torque by getting to a better rod angle quicker.  Although I
don't have the
figures handy, the latest BMW engines have a shorter rod ratio than some of
the earlier
cars, like my '87 325is.  When I was rebuilding my engine, the biggest
expert in the Roundel
suggested I go to a shorter rod, because in his experience, that engine
would get around the
track faster.  Natually, I compromised!
