Racing a 1600

I am back on this list after 6 months or so. In that time, I sold my '93 
318is and won two divisional championships in SCCA Midwest Division 
(driving a J brand).

I would like to stay in ITC, and try a different car.  Preferably rear 
wheel drive, and that really narrows the choices.  

Can anyone share words of wisdom, or warning, about racing a '68-'71 
single carb 1600?
