Regarding the addition of a third brake light to a 1984 E30, perhaps this
will help. I am in the process of adding a third brake light to my 1979
733i (E23). It is my understanding that BMW made a retrofit kit to add a
3rd brake light to the E23. Perhaps they have a similar kit for an E30.
