Re:what can I get for around 27k?

I'm sincerely confused ... you want to buy a *used* car for 27k?!?!! If
you leave the sticker prices for dealers to focus on, and instead
concern yourself with invoice prices, you can get your dream car 323is
coupe for about $27.5k - *new*!!!! Try to keep up with me here ...

I got my new '97 M3 for $1000 over invoice ... it had been on the dealer
lot for about six months, and thus gave me the edge in the negotiating
process ... I am sure a lot of you have done better than this, but I use
this only to show Renato that "invoice+plus" is a lot better way to go
about buying (or leasing) a vehicle than "sticker-minus", although the
dealers probably see it diffently ;>

Take a look at the buyers guides sites - a bunch of them can be seen at:
http://dir.yahoo.com/Recreation/Automotive/Buyer_s_Guides/  ;my personal
favorite is www.edmunds.com/edweb/cars/BMW/367.98.html - for this e.g.
Given that the '99 (new-shape) 3-series is now out, any new E36 1998 3's
*should* be able to be purchased at, IMHO, invoice+$100 ... remember,
dealer is getting a 2.2% holdback on MSRP anyway, so using edmunds (as
at 7/28) pricing: this is how you get your baby for ~$27.5k (the dealer
is still making AT LEAST $700 (2.2% on $28,700 + $100), which (s)he is
going to be a lot more interested in than continuing to pay his finance
company interest on it ...)
1998 BMW 323is Coupe 2-Dr 5-speed Manual
Invoice = $25,160
MSRP = $28,700
Destination Charge: $570
Tax, at 6.5% (what I paid) on $25,260 (invoice+$100) is ~$1,642 ; add
all these up add you get 25,160+100+570+1,642=$27,472 (+ one case of
any beer I choose if you do this?!?!) Got it???? Good luck!!!
Best regards, Dave
