        Does the brake lining light (the red one with a couple of dashes
around a circle),  light up when the rotors are worn out??

This is an indicator that the Brake Pads have reached a safe minimum and should be changed soon.  It helps to ensure that you do not cut into the rotors.  There isn't, to my knowledge any other means of checking rotor wear other than using a caliper and measuring the thickness of the rotors.  Maybe someone else knows
different?
