e-36, ac fan speed resistors

My wife's 92 325 has symptoms that the resistor(s) are out on the fan 
blower switch or motor or wherever they may be. It only operates on the 
highest setting (4). Has anyone changed this part out? Is it easy to get 
to? Or is this something better left to another for the sake of sanity?
