News from BMW Car magazine

Hello,
Just picked-up the Sep issue and thought I would let you know some of the
topics. If you already know this information, sorry for WOB. Don't know if
these apply to US spec cars:

1. All 5 & 7 series owners who have cars with DSC (Dynamic Stability
Control) may have added benefit of DBC (Dynamic Brake Control). When the
brakes are applied heavily, the DBC speeds up and reinforces the process of
building up brake pressure...makes for the shortest possible stopping
distance. It does this by monitoring the speed at which the driver builds up
brake pressure on the pedal as will as the absolute level of pressure. It
uses a hydraulic brake servo unit.

2. Z3 models will gain improved engines. They will get the same engines as
the new 3 series. The new 1.9 liter will have balancer shafts....helps
reduce vibration. The 2.8 roadster, performance will be improved with the
new double-VANOS.

3. BMW Motorsport GmbH announced which M Power engines can run on unleaded
fuel without modification. The early E30 M3s and all E28 M5s can use
unmodified unleaded. The M635CSi cars can be run on 98 octane unleaded.

The history on Alpina cars will be next:

George Boudreau
95 325is
83 323i (98 leaded only)
