E34 Wipers

I have a '94 530i and have a problem with the right hand windshield
wiper hitting the hood.  My close friend has the some problem on his
540i.  I was in Germany last week and noticed the same problem on half
the 5er there.

How is this problem fixed? Does one:

a) Rotate the wiper higher on the little drive shaft ?
b) Adjust the hood stops underneath?
c) Something else I haven't thought of.

Would appreciate any insight.
