Did you ever actually see/hear the used unit working before you purchased
it? You may need to check and see if the data cable is connected at the
radio. I've never seen one not, but it is step #1 in the instructions. Or
try it in another car with a working CD.

You use the flat large top-bracket that comes with the Changer and the two
pieces from the side mount kit attach to this with the bent-boomerang piece
mounted to the left (short side of the changer when viewing the changer
from the front) on the bracket and mounts toward the front of the car to an
existing captivated nut. The 2drs use a spacer here. The L-shaped channel
mounts to the rear long-side of the bracket which attaches to two existing
studs sort of under the r/s trunk/rear-quarter drain channel.
