Installing a garage door opener in an E36

I finally got tired of having the garage door opener (mine's BIG and black)
clunking around in the various compartments of the car and decided to
hardwire it in my 94 325is. It's not too hard a job (took me about 2 hours
not knowing what to do and taking breaks-probably doable in under an hour if
you know what you're doing). If you want to do it email me and I'll be
happy to let you know what I did. If there's a lot of interest I'll post it
on the digest. For $4 in parts (compared to what for that as a factory
option?) it looks pretty good. Hope someone can use it.

P.S. It's not really "hardwired", it still runs off the 9 volt. If anyone
who knows more about electricity than I do knows if I can somehow run it off
the car's 12 volt power and how I would go about doing that, let me know.
TIA.
