The thing just won't run!!

Hi Guys and Gals

Problem:
Engine cold.
Turn ignition key, engine cranks normally and starts. Runs for a second or
two then dies! Restarts OK, then does exactly the same thing. When the
engine warms up, everything is hunky-dorey, smooth idle @ 800 RPM.
I am thinking that the cold start injector isn't, probable cause some kind
of water temperature switch gone duff? Would anybody care to advise
alternatives? What should the resistance of a temp sender be when cold? Are
they 'grounded' when cold and resistive when warm, or the other way around?
Any help/advise gratefully received!!!!

Thanks

Sean.
