quick note about this.

the E30 M3 is an awesome car... BUT...

it is not competitive in SCCA club racing. the current rules
structure does not give it any place to race, let alone be
competitive. only one class (ITE) even comes close to allowing this
car to compete. unfortunately, ITE is ruled by very high dollar
ex-series cars (ferrari challenge, 993 cup, etc.).

the E30 M3 is an extremely competent autocrosser when set up right,
and is supposed to be an absolute blast on the track. if you want to
race one of these though, the only real choice may be BMW CCA club
racing.

ps: the E36 325is ('92 only) has just been approved for ITS
competition, and should be a terror in that class next year if anyone
lays out the cash to build one (an E30 325is is currently kicking
butt in ITS here in the DC region).
