Valentine One Performance

I recently completed a 9200 mile trip over a
five week span with the latest version of the Valentine One.
This report is primarily a comparison between the latest and the older
version of the Valentine One.

My experiences are as follows.

Laser:
Super sensitive to false alarms. Driving east as the sun came over the
horizon while using the wipers to clear dew from the windshield caused
an alarm each time the wiper passed in front of the unit. As far as I
know
I was never exposed to traffic laser.

Sensitivity to false alarms seems to increase with higher ambient
temperatures.

Strobe lights on emergency and police vehicles will also cause false
alarms.

K and Ka Band:
Ability to discriminate between the emissions from cheap radar detectors
and
speed detection radar is much improved over the older version. Detection
range on the Ka
band is much improved. On several occasion I estimate that radar was
detected at ranges
of two to three miles.

X Band:

It is not unusual to detect radar at ranges of five miles or more.
No performance differences were observed with the old version.

In the past twenty years I have made about fifteen trips between Tucson
and the east coast (Nova Scotia) and I have never seen the highway
patrols
of the various states exhibit such aggressiveness in their enforcement
speed limits.

Overall I am pleased with performance of the Valentine One and despite
the poor
performance on the laser band I recommend it highly.
