E30-Engine blow-by

   My 1983 323i (148km) has a bad habit on oil blow-by and is starting to
consume quite a bit Mobil 1. Right now, really don't have the funds,
experience, or time to fix it properly (valves/rings ect..), so wondering
about oil additives that claim to help stop blow-by. Does this stuff really
work...if so..what brand is the best? Also, if running synth. oil, does the
additive need to also be synth.? BTW, so far I can only see blue smoke
coming from a complete stop...ie stop lights, and also between shifting
gears.
