Chips n' Shimmies--Running Rich

I also have a 95 M3 w./ euro intake and Jim C. chip.  I too believe the 
car runs richer w/ the chip, etc.  Why?  When driven hard with the chip 
(non-stock) you can smell the HOT catalytic converser (rotten egg smell) 
when you stop...Without the chip (stock intake), this does NOT 
happen...IDEAS?? COMMENTS???
