<e12> 528i air cond.

My 1980 528i has lost its charge and can't cool down.

There is also an oily stain on the pavement under the eveporator
condensate drain. Does this sound like a bad evaporator?

I would be grateful for advice on purchasing required parts and general
tips on the failure and service of the a/c of this model. I will not be
changing from R12.
