Euro M5
Hey guys,
I just bought an '88 M5 but during the process I was looking at an '85 euro
M5. Well to make a long story short, a friend of mine saw pics of the '85
and he's thinking of buying it. Since I have no point of reference for
these things I am not able to advise on such matters so I am looking to the
list for thoughts.
The car is heavily modified (3.9 liter motor w/lots of internal goodies,
Brembo brakes, yada yada yada) so I'm looking for input re: smogging in CA
and maintenance of modified engines, brakes and the like.
The car appears to be in excellent shape (again from the pics) and he is
asking $20,000 for it. It has a perfect interior (leather everything) and
exterior. The whole drive train has been rebuilt/restored and it has 17"
E36 M3 wheels. The brakes look to be about the size of manholes and are
drilled (I can't tell from the pictures if they are slotted, my personal
preference). The suspension (if I remember our conversation) is Dinan
stage IV. It used to belong to golfer Johnny Miller (not that that adds
value).
What do you think? I know the market is soft and I've seen euro M5's
advertised for around $15 (probably sold for $13 or so). He's thinking of
offering around $16 or $17k.
Feedback welcome (and sought).
TIA
