One other place to check is the same place my car is generating smoke
and the smell of burning oil. My transmission leaks some which drips
directly onto the exhaust pipes after the cat. It's a little
embarassing to be sitting at a drive up window in this beast with smoke
rolling out from underneath. I think it requires dropping the tranny to
fix some kind of plate at the top of the tranny which is known to cause
this. I don't have the skills for that one and neither do I have the
bucks so I'll just keep adding MTL as it needs it.
