Re: K&N Filters

     Jim,

What's da matta'. Did I step on your toes a little bit. Put some shoes
     on. Since I didn't buy a K & N, I can afford to front you some money
     for some safety shoes.

If you haven't already noticed, most newsgroups are basically full of
ancedotes, opinion, and subjectivity. It's the 'spice'. If you don't
like it, just close your eyes and brain. I like to hear of peoples
personal experiences. I guess you do to, as long as it jives with your
     opinion.

Did you miss my point? From my experience (AKA IMHO) and others, K & N
are not the hot street setup, if you drive in dusty conditions and put
a premium on engine longevity. They flow a fantastic amount of air for
what they filter, but the compromise is too much on the flow side and
not enough on the filter side for my tastes. Perhaps where you drive,
     it's not as dusty.

One 'fact' I didn't mention, is how great an exposed filter (without
an airbox like most K & N filters are installed) flows water when you
drive thru a puddle and splash water into the engine bay. Rare, but It
     can happen.

You want facts, read the K & N thread in the FAQ.

As far as that 'million mile warranty' is concerned, how are going to
prove it one way or the other?

Wondering why I bothered to reply,

Then post some FACTS .. not an anecdotal hit and run story

I've run K&N filters since MY "pimple" days .. on everything from
bikes running 11,000+ rpms to BMW M cars ...

NEVER had a problem .. and if I did .. they'd be paying on their
     MILLION MILE warranty ...
