Dallas IMSA GTS-2 Results

The BMW M3 qualified in the following order for the 45 minute IMSA GTS-2
race today:

 1 - Boris Sad

 2 - Bill Auberlin

 3 - Pete Halsmer

10 - Matt Cohen

Pete finished first after taking over the lead early in the race and Boris
finished fourth. Bill dropped out early with a failed left rear brake
rotor. Matt dropped out late with a broken axle.

It would have been a 1-2 finish for Pete and Boris but about half way in,
Boris spun but missed everything. He went to the pits for new tires and
must have exceeded pit row speed because he got hit with a stop-and-go
penalty. He climbed back to fourth by the end of the race.

Matt did an outstanding job in his first street course, holding off Larry
Shumacher in a Porshe for several laps before Shumacher finally got around
Matt. Matt was running 5th when an axle failed. He has really come into
his own since Texas World Speedway in May. If he continues to improve at
this rate, he will be an outstanding driver.

With one race left in Daytona, both the manufacturers and individual titles
are really close. Either BMW or Porshe could win. Pete and Larry
Schumacher are in a dogfight for the driver's title.

BMW has really come on strong the last half of the season. With the
acquistion of Bill and Boris the team is really taking off. 1997 will be a
great year for BMW in IMSA GTS-2.

If you have not seen these guys run lately you really ought to try to catch
a race. They are VERY formidable and committed to the program. They are
also committed to supporting BMW CCA so, if you are a member and they are
coming to a track near you, please go out and support them. If you go into
the paddock and let Eric Wensberg know that you are a member of CCA, you
will be surprised at the positive response you get.

And tell him Norm passed the word.
