Wiper assembly
It finally gave up the ghost on my E21. My wipers stopped working yesterday and
when I looked to see why, I found the ball joint connecting the woper motor to
the rest of the assembly had worn out its socket and the ball and socket joint
was now just a ball and socket. No joint. Great. I regreased the ball and
packed epoxy putty around the bottom of the socket to add more socket to the
socket, but I dont know how much longer this will last. I'm also thinking of
drilling a hole in the top of the ball and socket, and bolt it together to make
sure the two dont come apart. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them.
What did you do apart from replaceing the who assembly. I must say, that is the
most SOLID wiper assembly I've ever seen. I dont want to replace the whole
thing which consists of 3 ball joints and thick steel bars.
