Washers?

I have a 93 325is with 21K miles. Time to do an oil change.....Went to
change it and the filter came with new o rings, and two washers. 
I proceeded with the change looking for the washers that needed to be
replaced but could not find one. Where do these go? 
Since I didnt have any on before and do not have an oil leak, I assume
this is okay? Any comments. 

One final note, how does one go about reseting the service indicator
lights?
