2002 Rear bearing noise

Help,

My '76 2002 is starting to make a grumbling noise, noticeable from the rear. I
suspect that one of the rear wheel bearings is failing. After jacking the car
up and shaking the rear wheels back and forth I was unable to detect any
unusual movement. I also tried the same thing with the rear u-joint and again
didn't feel any play.

Any suggestions on how I might isolate the source of the noise?

(I also checked the diff fluid level and all was well)
