Use an AC thermometer carefully inserted into a hose
bleed off some hot coolant to measure the temp.
thermostat opens at 176 F (pointer at the 2nd dot)
normal operating temp is about 190 F (about the middle of the idiot gauge)
auxillary cooling fan activated at 196 F at low speed
auxillary cooling fan activated at 210 F at high speed
red zone indicates temp is now than higher than 210 F
Let me add this additional info,
The above is what I figured out with info from the Bentley manual.
( careful as coolant is under pressure, and needless to say hot......)
