Question on E28 blower fan lubrication

My '85 535i's blower fan just seized up ( naturally it happened when the 
temperature dipped to -8 F). I removed the blower and squirted some oil on the 
bushings, which should allow them to last a while longer. 

Does anyone have any experience on relacing the bushings (they seem to be 
permanently crimped in place) or lubricating them?
