I had similar problem with my 735i - with the driver's side tail light and 
parking lights.  My mechanic had replaced a relay (don't remember which relay 
- - guess there shouldn't be too many for the tail light) and the problem had
vanished !

It had costed me $40 (part) + $15 (labor)
