>>It seems that
the entire production run in October was converted to automatics
     because of:

     a) unavailability of Getrag 5-speeds
     b) waiting for a part to retrofit the existing Getrags (to prevent a
     field failure?)

Hmmm. It seems that you may have been fully or partially mislead (or I have).
I'm waiting for my 95 5sp as well. But, the delay was due to the recall of the
3-series for not passing the Fed crash test where the dummies were NOT
seatbelted. They retrofitted the automatics first and the 5 spds last. They
added a washer to the steering column to help it buckle, and added more knee
support to the passenger side.

I am supposed to take delivery of my 95 5 spd/sports package within two
weeks-at least I better be...

The 328i/iS I thought was supposed to be available next fall. It will have
something near the vicinity or over 200hp. Yup, it would definitely tick me
off-especially if the prices remain the same. I wouldn't mind it so much if
328 buyers need to pay an extra premium for the extra horsepower. Then again,
why would they if the M3 sedan/coupe isn't that much more money?
